Numerical methods, especially those related to spherical geometry

We are pursuing a number of approaches towards new numerical methods to be used in simulations of Earth's core and other fluid dynamical problems. These include studying alternative co-ordinate systems which avoid the need for Legendre transforms, development of 3D finite volume codes and better parallelisation of spectral codes.
